I found this to be a most enjoyable fantasy. The story takes place in two very different worlds, one is the modern world of here and now, and the other an apparently ancient and fantastical place where kings and queens still battle over castles and lands and, of course, their inheritances. Both worlds are connected by magical wells that allow travel between realms or even for an entity to inhabit both in some form or another.
The descriptions were marvelously well done with believable characters that I really cared about performing articulate and well thought-out story arcs and rituals that in total built a very compelling narrative. The tension rose nicely as the story progressed and left me with just enough of a cliffhanger that I want and need to read the next book that is hopefully coming in this series. Very Well Done!

I was pleasantly surprised with the wonderful writing quality of Terry Madden. Very descriptive writing, easy to imagine the story as I read. Good characters,exciting story, am waiting for the sequels!!
I enjoyed reading this book. The idea that this world is where people go when they die in another world is intriguing. I enjoyed the characters and the story line. I recommend this book to young adults or older. I will be looking for more books by this author.

Fantastic characters in a grand adventure with a bittersweet love story at its core ... this is everything that reminded me of why I loved reading epic fantasy as a kid. Also loved the dual world structure and how it all tied together. Beautiful writing and imagery throughout.
I stopped reading fantasy many years ago, primarily because the authors I looked at lacked did not, or could not, link their universes to reality. I think it actually takes more creativity to create a new world that has ties to this one. I truly enjoyed the way Ms. Madden was able to connect the two, and exhibit creativity in both worlds. A very enjoyable read that has re-kindled my interest in fantasy; or at least in Ms. Madden's sequel when it comes out.Three Wells of the Sea
This is a very well written book and a great story. It grabbed my attention from the start and held it to the end. Unlike most of the self published kindle books it has no spelling or grammar errors.
I loved the writing style, attention to detail, depth of characters and sense of humor. The main character had my attention from the very beginning. A lot of effort and love went into it, you can tell. I'll be looking for more from this author. Humor doesn't feel forced but it does sometimes feel out of place. It works well.. The real strong point I feel is when the drama comes. The seriousness. The author does a great job making you feel a sense of dread or heaviness of the situation.

Just got done with this and really enjoyed it. Epic Fantasy is not in my wheelhouse, but I have been enjoying 'Game of Thrones' and 'Vikings' and those really helped me with some of the context of the characters and jobs (meadmonger? really?) and relationships and vocabulary (shieldwall!).

Liked the way author wrote the protagonist's experience switching from the reality-present, to the alternative fantasy-present. I don't ever recall reading that style before, but it works to make me think what is happening might be in slow-motion or in a different reality. I didn't really get it at first, but the more I read then it became much easier to absorb. Really interesting way to tell the story, and I will be looking for this 'switch' in the upcoming books in the series.

Characters are strongly defined, and it is very cinematic in the telling. Can easily see this as a movie, I picture Mickey Rourke or Johnny Depp playing one of the colorful characters in the movie version. The tertiary characters are quite interesting, too, and I hope they will show up in the next books. Am pretty sure I will have to re-read this first book just before reading the next, in order to re-familiarize with all the characters and history.
